Feature Product: Tasmanian Hot Whisky Mustard

There’s a great deal of energy behind all things Tasmanian at the moment.  We’re being recognised for our outstanding cheese, whisky, wine, beer, cider, honey and of course, the fresh produce that we are so proud to work with on a daily basis.  Tassie boasts some of the cleanest air in the world, clean fresh water and a climate that is perfect for peat production, required for producing peated whiskies.  What does that mean for us at the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company?

Where possible, we seek to integrate other Tasmanian producers’ products into our range.  Tasmanian whisky is no exception, with Tassie single malt used in our Whisky Seville Marmalade and Hot Whisky Mustard.

Our Tasmanian Hot Whisky Mustard is a whole-seed mustard and unlike most supermarket mustards that claim to be ‘whole-seed’, you will actually notice that the seeds in all of our seeded mustards are intact.  We are proud to say that we don’t add bulk to our mustards with tasteless husks used as filler, as is the practice of many commercial operators.

So, what’s the result?  This product is a spicy, flavour-filled mustard that boasts its flagship ingredient without it being overpowering.  You’ll know the smell and the flavour but it certainly doesn’t overpower the top-quality mustard seeds.  There are plenty of ways to use our Hot Whisky Mustard, including on sandwiches, in salad dressings and of course, served with a piece of quality Tasmanian beef.  You’ll find a few good ideas amongst our recipes.  Remember that the Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company has a range of six mustards so you can try substituting multiple types in your recipes.  Happy cooking!
